Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us. Maybe we've heard through a friend or have done some research online. It's possible that you are just fed up with living in pain and it's time to do something about it. In either case, your first visit to the chiropractor will really be about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your history, current condition and goals.
As with any doctor's visit, you'll start by finishing some new patient paperwork. These forms sum up your health history and information on your current condition. Upon meeting with the doctor, you'll discuss your concerns and expectations as well as have the chance to ask any questions you may have. After consultation, Dr. John will perform a physical examination to test your reflexes and flexibility among other things to determine your current state. X-rays are not performed at our site. However, Dr. John may refer you to an imaging facility depending on your specific condition. If you have xrays in your possession already, you are encouraged to bring them with you. Once this is complete, we'll take a look at the overall results of our conversation and the exams. We can determine how chiropratic care can help you, how often you may need to come in, and what your treatment will cost. Together, we'll come up with a plan of action which will begin when you are completely satisfied and ready to move forward.
At the conclusion of the planning, you will experience your first treatment. Before you leave Dr. John will suggest a wellness program for you put into place away from the office. For pain management this may include ice and heat applications, activities and positions to avoid, and home exercises and stretches to retrain your muscles. We also offer upon your request suggestions for improving your health habits with the use of supplements, positive thinking, and exercise.
